The Fitness Network Academy Proposal

This proposal outlines the establishment of an engaging and dynamic Key Stage 2 & 3 Sports Bootcamp, specifically designed to inspire, motivate, and empower students in Years 3 to 9 (ages 7-14). The programme harnesses the power of sport and physical activity to enhance fitness, develop teamwork, and nurture essential life skills such as confidence, perseverance, and resilience.

Objectives

  1. Develop physical competence: Provide students with structured opportunities to strengthen their athletic skills across multiple sports and activities.
  2. Promote active lifestyles: Encourage students to embrace the long-term benefits of regular physical activity.
  3. Foster teamwork and leadership: Cultivate effective communication, cooperation, and sportsmanship among participants.
  4. Boost confidence and resilience: Use sport as a medium to instil self-belief, perseverance, and a growth mindset.
  5. Encourage healthy habits: Support students in understanding and adopting fitness and wellness practices that extend beyond the bootcamp.

Programme structure

Duration

8 weeks with one after-school session per week. Each session lasts 1 hour.

Continuity

Following the initial cycle, the bootcamp can be extended with new groups to broaden access and impact.

Activities

A diverse blend of skill-building, fitness training, and team-based challenges designed to maintain high engagement levels.

Key components

Multi-sport skill development

Fundamental motor skills (running, jumping, throwing), sport-specific drills, and activities to improve agility, balance, and coordination.

Team-building games

Relay races, obstacle courses, and problem-solving challenges designed to strengthen teamwork, trust, and collaboration.

Fitness training

Age-appropriate exercises for strength, endurance, and flexibility, alongside fun challenges like circuit training, yoga, and dance.

Mindset & motivation

Goal-setting, resilience workshops, and strategies to stay positive, handle setbacks, and celebrate effort over outcomes.
